After the incredible experience of publishing my first children’s book, “Charlie and Sophie’s Great Escape,” I’m excited to share that I’ve begun working on my second book! Writing for children is a deeply personal journey, and I believe the best stories come from the heart—stories rooted in real experiences and emotions.
My first book was inspired by my two puppies, Charlie and Sophie, who ran away and got lost in the woods. Their adventure became a tale of teamwork, resilience, and self-reliance. My second book, “The Boy Who Wanted to Fly,” is inspired by someone very special to me—my cousin, who recently passed away.
When my cousin Amna was two years old, she contracted polio, which affected her mobility for the rest of her life. Over the years, I watched her transition from leg braces to crutches, then to an electric scooter, and finally to a wheelchair. Despite these lifelong challenges, she remained strong, positive, and full of life, becoming a role model for all who knew her.

In my second book, I want to honor her incredible spirit. “The Boy Who Wanted to Fly” follows a young boy in a wheelchair who dreams of soaring through the sky. It’s a story about determination, dreams, and the limitless nature of imagination.
I’ve decided to continue working with my hybrid publisher for this book. This will allow me to learn more about the publishing process before considering an independent route for future projects. Every book is a learning experience, and I’m embracing each step of the journey.
I can’t wait to share more as this book takes flight. Stay tuned for updates!
Beautiful Farial! Your cousin will be dancing with joy in Heaven for this amazing tribute. 💞 I cannot wait to read your poignant words and to be truly inspired. 💝
What beautiful ideas for your stories. You’ve given Amna eternal wings.
What an empowering story and I can’t wait to read it!
What a beautiful tribute to your cousin and a wonderful way to encourage children to have strength self-worth, and work hard to reach their potential.
I throughly enjoyed your first book, Charlie and Sophie’s Great Escape. Your idea for your second book will be a lovely tribute to your cousin.
I am in Miriam Laundry’s Master class (since September 2023) and my co-author and I published Patch Takes Off. It’s about an Australian shepherd and it based on a true story of a Border collie. As such, we were both very interested in your story.
We are planning to apply for the IPPY award. I wonder if it’s worth it. I have been following you on instagram and I am enjoying your posts as well as learning from them.
My website is not active yet.
Thank you so much, Margaret! I appreciate the feedback and support. I would be grateful if you and your co-author could leave reviews on Amazon. I will definitely return the favor! Miriam’s community has been a great help throughout this process and I’ve “met” so many lovely, like-minded people.
Herding dogs are the best! After Charlie died unexpectedly, we adopted Rocky, an Australian shepherd retriever mix. Our house wouldn’t be the same without our dogs!
